Self-Help Group (SHG) Program

Nepal is still one of the poorest countries in the world, with many women—especially from marginalized communities—facing discrimination, exclusion, and poverty. Women often have limited access to education, jobs, and resources, which makes it hard for them to live independent and respectful lives.

Empowering women is important for building a fair, peaceful, and developed society. When women are given opportunities, they become more confident, make better decisions, and help improve the lives of their families and communities. By improving their skills, creating job opportunities, and promoting gender equality, we can help end poverty and build a more inclusive future.

About the Self-Help Group (SHG) Program

The Self-Help Group (SHG) Program supports women from poor and marginalized communities by offering skill training, financial support, and leadership development. It helps improve gender equality, increases financial independence, and promotes social fairness.

Through SHGs, women learn new skills, gain access to micro-credit loans, and receive support to start small businesses. These groups also give women a safe space to share ideas, learn from each other, and grow in confidence. The program helps women take active roles in their families and communities and work toward a better and more equal society.

Program Overview

The SHG Program focuses on three main areas:

Skill Development & Capacity Building

    • Offers technical training and awareness programs to help women become more skilled and self-reliant.

Economic Empowerment

    • Provides financial education, access to small loans, and support to start income-generating activities.

Social Transformation

    • Encourages women to take leadership roles and be part of decision-making in their homes and communities.

Program Goal

To build a peaceful and equal society where women, especially from poor and excluded groups, have equal access to opportunities, respect, and decision-making power.
