To empower women and marginalized communities economically, socially, and politically, while fostering inclusive leadership and strengthening democratic participation to build peaceful and resilient communities.
Objectives
- Economic Empowerment and Resilient Livelihood: To strengthen the wellbeing of women, marginalized communities and conflict‑affected people, by expanding fair access to resources, skills, and opportunities, while fostering sustainability, accountable use of resources, and resilience to climate change in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Advocacy and action for climate justice will be integral to resilient livelihood promotion, ensuring that communities not only adapt to climate risks but also secure equitable access to resources and opportunities.
- Women’s Leadership and Democratic Participation: To enhance women’s leadership and promote free, active and meaningful participation of women and marginalized communities in peacebuilding and democratic processes at all levels, including in seeking accountability.
- Peace, Rights and Justice: To champion and advocate for a peaceful, just, and inclusive society, free from violence and human rights violations, where all individuals can live with dignity.
- Institutional Strengthening: To maintain and improve the effects of its work, WPD will focus on its own institutional strengthening together with that of its partners and allies. This includes supporting community‑based organizations, and women‑led grassroots groups, with an emphasis on localization, to enhance community ownership, and build their ability to advocate their interests and promote human rights, foster democratic participation, and advance sustainable development.

- Gender equality and social justice: WPD firmly believes in the equal dignity of every human being, is committed to non-discrimination, regards equity as a pathway to equality, and is determined to advance social justice through gender equality norms.
- Inclusivity and participation: WPD firmly believes in the inclusion of women and marginalized communities in decision-making processes that affect their interests, ensuring their active participation in both development planning and the benefits of development outcomes.
- Transparency and accountability: WPD is committed to being transparent and accountable to the people and government it works with, while also advocating for transparency and accountability among all relevant stakeholders.
- Community-driven change: WPD firmly believes that lasting change is possible only through aware, empowered, and actively engaged communities, and is therefore committed to strengthening community empowerment.
- Non-partisan: WPD respects people’s right to opinion and belief, and remains neutral in political and religious matters. However, it stands firmly with oppressed women and gender minorities whenever their rights are violated or denied.
- Nonviolence and peace: WPD firmly believes that sustainable change can only be achieved through nonviolence and peace, and is therefore committed to fostering harmony, dialogue, and justice in all its work.
